Customer Reviews

Unfortunately, these critiques are not all distinguishing in between the "burnished steel" and the "coated". There is a massive difference. The hook reviewed and sold right here is the Burnished Steel, produced only for the 6QT KitchenAid Mixer.
As a specialist baker I use both the KitchenAid four.five-qt and the six-qt at property for product development. Whilst I advise the spiral hook as compared to the C (shapped) hook (I have both) I do not recommend the aluminum (so-called "burnished")finish. Final week when I was down with the flu the aluminum hook and flat beater were place into our dishwasher by mistake. They oxidized so badly that both are now a total loss. Soon after attempting to clean them with many different products and procedures I referred to as KitchenAid to see if there was something I could do. They said "buy a replacement". When the finish is destroyed you threat finding aluminum (lots!) into your product which is highly unhealthy.
I also have the coated hook and the flat beater for my four.5-qt and in ten years my only challenge has been a especially tiny spot on the beater that is beginning to wear through the coating and will have to have to be replaced soon.(The coating seems to be some sort of plastic coating with metal underneath.) This can be avoided by generating sure it really is not hitting the bowl anyplace. (You can call KitchenAid for help in generating this adjustment if required.) I agree with another reviewer that it would be nice to get these attachments in stainless steel. Perhaps they will listen to us and present this sometime in the future.
In summary: I recommend the spiral hook more than the C hook. I discover the dough will still climb up the hook when kneading a lower volume of dough (beneath two lbs) in the six-qt. (I do not make bread dough particularly typically in my Classic, four.five-qt, as I am concerned it may possibly eventually burn out the smaller 250 watt motor.) The spiral hook is the very same style as most specialists use (and I use in my bakehouse) as it gives a substantially far better and uniform kneading action. But keep away from the burnished steel if at all possible. A single mistake into the dishwasher will price you!
Just to be clear - please be conscious the hook reviewed right here will ONLY fit the 6 QT mixer. It is called "burnished steel" by the manufacturer (or put to use to be if it isn't any longer). It is seriously just a inexpensive aluminum hook. It is sturdy enough but an accidental run through the dishwasher renders it a total loss. To my expertise, there is not a stainless steel hook readily available for any of the KitchenAid mixers. Get the plastic coated hook instead of this aluminum version, as it is at least dishwasher-friendly. (I had to unique order it from a nearby appliance shop.)
Please feel absolutely free to ask any queries, I will respond. Hope this helps!

Dough doesn't climb up on the mixing tool and it truly kneads the dough substantially greater giving you a smoother dough (you can feel this distinction). When I added ingredients I noticed they get more completely mixed and do not sit on the side of the bowl. The older device was a great deal more of a mixing tool than a kneader but it did the job. This does it improved.
