I bought this mixer given that Cook's Illustrated advised it. I can see, immediately after three months, that CI was spot-on. It is a substantial-sized kitchen tool, and I've utilised it at least once a week due to the fact acquiring it. Mainly I purchased this for bread mixing, and it clomps along even on the firmest dough (though it does "hop" a bit on firm doughs). The powerful engine can deal with anything I throw at it. It also does a fabulous job on whipped cream -- far superior-textured than a hand-mixer could make. I've implemented it to make cakes and cream-cheese dips, frostings and herb butters, and there just does not appear to be significantly this mixer can't do to perfection. It is not a food processor, so do not count on it to chop and dice or to cut butter into biscuit dough, but it fulfills its function perfectly. It's heavy-duty and substantial, and so hassle-free to hand-wash I haven't bothered putting its elements by means of the dishwasher. 100% suggest.

I have had this mixer for 5 vyears and use it occasionaly. The seal on the mixer shaft leaks oil into the bowl. KitchenAid says this is typical and a single should really use the mixer at least once a week to stop the leakage. This is a poor resolution to the trouble! This seal on the shaft demands a redesign.
