Buyer Critiques

My mother purchased this Pro model for me as a gift about 5 years ago to replace my old KitchenAid. On the plus side, it is a effective mixer that doesn't balk at doubled amounts of cake batter, though I did have difficulties with it for bread dough as one more poster commented. And yes, I read the manual, put to use the correct speed and attachment. The machine did heat up. I usually do my bread dough by hand anyway, so it doesn't matter that considerably to me. However, because the head does not lift, I uncover the machine awkward to work with. The beater extends down into the bowl even when the bowl is at its lowest level. As a result, you have to put the full bowl onto the stand, holding the beater partially submerged in the middle, then attach it over the bowl. You have to take away the beater when you get rid of the bowl as properly, which is messy and impractical. Even with adjusting the height screw as it recommends in the manual, I discover that the whisk quite often does not scrape the bowl thoroughly. I have to cease the motor and scrape with a narrow spatula, and can't reach the bottom well mainly because there is not considerably room to perform with and its a hassle to take the bowl and beater off. The beater is wide so you cannot hold a spatula in the bowl even though the motor is operating. I see that there are beaters with silicone scrapers attached for sale to remedy this difficulty, and I might try that while they are pricey. Given that the machine comes with additional attachments and a powerful motor, and I am utilized to operating about the beater, I'll doggedly use this until it offers up the ghost. My next mixer will have the liftable head like my old ones, yet.

Purchased this by way of Chef's...arrived promptly....super unit (if you want huge and dont mind the whine of a large motor)....following a dozen or so uses the primary drive unit fell off (very the sight!)...referred to as Chef's, the apologized profusely, emailed me a label, picked it up and the a single I have now is just terrific...had to be a fluke as I had yet another smaller sized unit for 15 yrs and the buddy to whom I donated it reports its as beneficial as ever!
