Consumer Reviews
I got the opportunity to test this attachment out for KitchenAid and I learned a lot from the knowledge. This attachment makes pasta generating somewhat simple and easy and is properly built, (created in Italy). I discovered making pasta to be, whilst difficult at 1st, fairly straightforward. My first impression when I received the attachment how nicely built it is. The pasta press, (one other name for this attachment), has six diverse plates for generating pasta. (The plates are, Spaghetti, Rigatoni, Fusilli, Bucatini and two distinct sizes of Macaroni). The plates come apart for cleaning, (a thing I learned when cleaning it following 1 of my times producing pasta). There is also a cleaning brush, multi-tool for pushing and taking apart the pasta press at the bottom, a case for the plates (shops the other five plates, though a single plate is installed in the pasta press), and the directions.
The Pasta Press is produced of heavy duty plastic and comes apart easily for cleaning (except when you have pasta that you just produced, and that is exactly where the wrench comes in). The working components consist of:
1). The Press Plate, which the pasta dough presses via with the support of the mixer,
two). The auger, which feeds the dough to the pasta plate, and is driven by the mixer hub. This attaches to the drive with a key at the end of the auger shaft.,
three). The cutter, which cuts the pasta off at the desired length.,
4). The housing, which houses the operating components., and:
five). All the hub parts to drive the entire operation.
All the components are of pretty high excellent, though the pusher is not as excellent as I would like it to be. Occasionally the dough backs up out of the press and you have to push it back down. I would also like the pusher to be created out of wood, rather than plastic like it is now. I fully grasp that KA desires to make capital by cutting expenses, but I would like to see much less plastic utilized. The components are fairly high good quality now, though.
THE OPERATION:
The press operates by forcing pasta dough into various shapes, (it really is an extruder, but KA calls it the pasta press, but they are the very same thing.) The shapes are tube sort for the most portion, (except for the Fusilli), and there's not an solution for flat pasta with this attachment. I would like to see completely different shapes other than definitely tube shapes. I would like to see shells and other cool shapes for diverse dishes, even though there seems not to be any plans for that now.
The press comes completely put together and prepared to use, even though, most likely, you'll want to modify shapes to make the pasta you want. To do that, you will need to unscrew the bottom part holding the press plate in location, and take the plate out of the bottom. This can be done fairly easily out of the box and likely doesn't need the multi tool. This can be rather difficult with dough in the threads, although, so the tool is essential and takes care of it rather properly and fast. You are going to need to have a lot of elbow grease, so this may very well not be for people today with restricted strength in their hands.
Attach the press to the hub and tighten down the screw, and you are fantastic to go. The mixer has to be set to various speeds to get the pasta to extrude, though you will want to go a small slower than the directions advise to keep up with the course of action.
Cleanup is pretty easy and the plates come apart with the tip of a knife. I uncover that operating my plates through the dishwasher makes the course of action less difficult when you get the dough off the plate parts. put the plate back together and you are beneficial to go.
In conclusion, I like this attachment for the most part, but there are some things that could be enhanced. I honestly like this attachment, but, like most items, can be better.
PROS:
Well built in Italy
Makes pasta easier to produce
Can be implemented with any flour combo and eggless if you decide on
CONS:
Difficult to take apart when cleaning following making pasta for some
Components could be created of anything but plastic for the cost
Highly-priced for some.
DISCLOSURE:
I was not paid to test this for KA, other than I got the press for cost-free. I am in NO way affiliated with KA.

Be warned: your 1st couple of attempts will not be so great.
According to the recipe, you will need to have fresh pasta extruded in the time it takes to boil water. Last night, immediately after five earlier attempts, I made my 1st successful batch ready in time for the boiling water. The other batches were fine, but last night was the 1st time the method went fast.
Here's my suggestions: Weigh your flour and very carefully measure your eggs. 1 cup sifted flour weighs 112 grams. The eggs require to measure 7/8 cup. When I had those precise proportions, the method went superb.
I love this attachment. It needs less time and kneading than roller pasta. Plus, it's as fun as playing with play dough. Keep in mind it really is a science and an art. It is a science simply because you Ought to use precise measurements. It really is an art given that it takes various tries ahead of you are pro.
The downside for me is that the pasta shapes get significant and bloated right after boiling. I want my pasta shapes to remain little. But huge is alright, just distinct from what I'm implemented to.
